Exhibit Studios recently completed an exhibit design project for the Pennsylvania Capitol Building Welcome Center, adding a new photo op wall created to engage children and families through lighting, dimensional elements, and immersive visuals. This installation builds upon the Welcome Center exhibit we originally designed and fabricated for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and continues our long-standing partnership focused on visitor education and engagement.
The new wall serves as a vibrant backdrop for family photos, helping visitors connect with Pennsylvania’s natural and cultural history in a playful and engaging way.
The custom photo op wall measures 10 feet by 10 feet and is located inside the Capitol Welcome Center. Designed specifically with young visitors in mind, the wall invites exploration, play, and memorable photo opportunities while complementing the existing exhibit environment.
Designed for Interaction and Longevity
The photo op wall features vibrant vinyl graphics printed in house by Exhibit Studios and installed on site by our team. Playful Pennsylvania wildlife comes to life through CNC routed dimensional animals that add depth and tactile interest. Integrated firefly elements illuminate at different times, creating movement and surprise that keeps children engaged.
A backlit sign serves as a visual focal point, drawing visitors into the space and enhancing visibility throughout the Welcome Center. All lighting elements, including backlit signage and flicker lights, were wired in house to ensure reliability, safety, and seamless integration. Materials were carefully selected for durability, supporting long-term use in a high-traffic public environment.

In House Design, Fabrication, and Installation
From concept to completion, Exhibit Studios managed every phase of this custom interactive exhibit design project. Our in-house capabilities include graphic production, CNC routing, electrical integration, and on-site installation, allowing us to maintain quality control while meeting tight timelines.

Building on the PA Capitol Welcome Center Exhibit
The new photo op wall expands upon the larger Welcome Center exhibit completed by Exhibit Studios in 2014 for the Pennsylvania Capitol Building Welcome Center. Commissioned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Welcome Center remains open to the public and continues to serve as an engaging introduction to Pennsylvania history, government, and civic life.
The original exhibit features multiple interactive games designed to make learning accessible and enjoyable for visitors of all ages. A highlight of the space is an 8.5 foot tall Lego sculpture of Lady Commonwealth, which has become a memorable centerpiece for guests. Colorful graphics throughout the exhibit guide visitors through the space while reinforcing key educational themes.
